A word about our chais
Our chais are made in the Afro-Punjabi style, hailing from the Swahili Coast where Kenyans, Tanzanians and Somalis have added their own flavours to the chai recipes brought to Africa by Indian migrants.

Our chais are made to order: steaming hot, spicy and sweet. In the African way, our chais are loaded with ginger and pepper and may be stronger than our customers expect. For those with different palates, ask for our milder, Desi chai or Khushy’s Pind Express, which is closer to a traditional sub-continental chai.

Some housekeeping rules when visting our chai bars.

  • We do not split chais - our size expresses the generosity of our chais and our upbringing.

  • Try not to ask for a spare cup or glass - experience and enjoy your own glass of chai.

    If need be take what you cannot drink home. Some bring their own cups (weird, but acceptable).

  • Prepare to wait for our chais. Especially when we are busy. Our weekends get hectic and there will be delays in our ablility to offer you a high quality individually prepared glass of chai. We promise to deliver a marvel!

  • Our chais are not for the fainthearted. We brew strong spiced and flavoursome chais - go with what the bar person suggests. If it is your first time, let them know . We promise to be gentle!
